Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.
The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.
Lived Experience Workforce
AMAH’s Lived Experience Workforce is a growing and valued team of peer and carer professionals in designated roles such as Directors, Coordinators, Consultants, Educators, and Support Workers. They contribute across all service areas, including youth, adult, older adult, emergency, and statewide specialist services like Women’s Mental Health and Residential Eating Disorders.
What you’ll be doing
This role supports the delivery of AMAH’s transformation plan, requiring strong knowledge of mental health services, Royal Commission recommendations, lived experience frameworks, and relevant policy. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with stakeholders and contribute to improving mental health services and experiences for carers and those they support. As part of the Strategy and Planning team, this position plays a key leadership role in advancing carer lived experience across AMAH, providing strategic advice and supporting carer participation during a time of significant system change.
About you
You will have:
- Lived experience of supporting someone experiencing mental health challenges
- At least 2 years of experience in a Carer Lived Experience role
- Sound understanding of Co-design practices in a mental health setting
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work and/or Intentional Peer Support Training
- Project management skills
- Australian working rights
- Current Influenza vaccination
- Be willing to undergo a Background Check
