On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department
Alfred Psychiatry sits within the Division of Ambulatory Services & Mental Health at The Alfred. It comprises both adult and child & adolescent services and a research unit. There is an important relationship with the aged mental health service at Caulfield Hospital.
The Alfred Psychology Department includes Clinical Psychology & Clinical Neuropsychology. Psychology Services report both to the Director of Psychiatry and the Manager of Allied Health.
The Community Psychiatry program includes Continuing Care Teams (CCT) at St Kilda Road Clinic, the Mobile Support & Treatment Service (MSTS), the Community Care Unit (CCU), The Homeless Outreach Psychiatric Service (HOPS), Navigations Service and the Brief Interventions Team (BIT).
The Community Psychology Program includes:
- The provision of psychological assessment and treatment services to the clients and carers of the various community psychiatry programs.
- The Psychological Interventions for Psychosis Service (PIPS), including delivery of individual and group therapy programs.
- The provision of secondary consultation, teaching & supervision to community psychiatry staff and professionals in other community services.
The Role
The position is full-time and will function under the supervision and direction of the P-3 Clinical Psychologist/s at St Kilda Road CMHS. The Clinical Psychologist will provide clinical services to clients of the St Kilda Road Continuing Care Team, consultation to other clinical staff and may participate programs such as the DBT or psychology group program.
Active participation in Alfred Psychology Department & St Kilda Road CMHS activities such as professional development sessions & case presentations is expected.
Qualifications/Experience Required
- Registration under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009.
- Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009 or eligibility and willingness to participate in a registrar training program leading to endorsement.
- Master or doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology.

- Membership of the APS and the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.
