Grade 3 Allied Health Assistant in Speech Pathology

The Department

The Alfred Health Speech Pathology Department is a co-ordinated service across all of Alfred Health which includes The Alfred Hospital; Caulfield Hospital; and Sandringham Hospital.

 

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Allied Health Assistant to join the Alfred Health Speech Pathology team. 

The position is based in the Acute and rehabilitation Services at Alfred Health and will provide support to the Speech Pathology Department

 

  • To provide high quality Speech Pathology services under the supervision of the treating therapist in the Speech Pathology Department Service, in both Acutre and Rehabilitation Units (and Aged Care as required)
  • To contribute to the overall smooth running of the Speech Pathology services 
  • To contribute to a safe working environment for patients and staff 
  • Coordination of AHA student education programmes.
  • To prepare/develop assessment and therapy resources as required.
  • To prepare assessment materials for videofluoroscopy assessments in a timely manner.
  • Communication of relevant issues relating to patient care to the treating therapist.

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • Cert III Allied Health Assistant or other relevant health-related qualification         
  • Ability to liaise effectively with hospital and departmental staff, patients and doctors
  • Ability to interact with patients with communication impairment.
  • Ability to interact with patients with behavioural/social/emotional difficulties.
  • Ability to learn new software packages relevant to patient care and administration.
