About us

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.

The newly developed AMAH Hospital and Emergency Department combines Adult Inpatient and Consultation-Liaison and Emergency Psychiatry Services. The Hospital and Emergency Services Department will embed trauma-informed approaches throughout the continuum of care starting at the point of entry and extending through assessment and treatment to transition out of specialist care, either in the community or the hospital setting.  

About the role

The Adult Inpatient Unit team is comprised of dedicated and compassionate mental health clinicians. We celebrate diversity within our workforce and have a genuine interest in each other’s wellbeing. We set high standards, and our team is committed to delivering timely and effective care to individuals in need, ensuring their well-being and promoting recovery. We also value higher learning and have our own practice development clinicians who are dedicated to supporting the professional growth of clinicians to provide the best care possible.

About you

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
  • Graduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Mental Health Nursing
  • Minimum 5 years acute clinical mental health nursing experience in a relevant health service
  • Post Graduate qualification in management or working towards is desirable
  • Australian working rights
  • Current Influenza vaccination
  • Be willing to undergo a Background Check
