The Role:

The Associate Nurse Manager is a member of the nursing leadership team, assiting the Nurse Unit Manager to operationalise the core values of the organisation. As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will play a pivotal role in meeting broader organisational imperatives and initiatives.
Whilst in the role, you will portray excellence in clinical practice and promote the development of nurses within the department, ensuring nursing standards of practice are consistently reflected in patient care delivery. 

As Associate Nurse Manager, you will be a vital part of the team. Together with the Nurse Manager, the Associate Nurse Manager is responsible for managing clinical risk and implementing systems and processes to improve patient outcomes.

The Department:
The Alfred Specialty Medicine (ASM) program, within the operations division, is comprised of 6 clinical units, including: Clinical Genetics and Genomics, Dermatology, Endocrine and Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Renal and Rheumatology.    

The Specialty Medicine program runs a large Outpatient service, with a focus on multidisciplinary Specialty Clinics. Our Outpatient clinics care for >42,000 patient consultations per year, across The Alfred, Caufield and Sandringham Campuses.  
Alfred Speciality Medicine also encompasses a world-leading research program, providing our patients access to the latest innovations in clinical care. 

About you:

  • Proven capacity or previous experience at an ANUM level
  • Ability to manage change and implement quality initiatives 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members
  • Ability to motivate individuals and groups, to achieve commonly held goals
  • Competent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback, to assist in developing the team capacity
  • Ability to invest in, and contribute to, department improvement
