Alfred Health

Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department

The Organisational Development (OD) team works to understand and improve the employee experience. The OD team works hard to foster connection, wellbeing, and a positive culture by listening to the voice of employees, co-designing improvement programs, and developing strategies that enable higher performance in services, leaders, and teams. It’s a highly collaborative, supportive, and impact-driven team that partners with leaders across Alfred Health to create a great place to work.

The Role

Exceptional leaders create great employee experiences and contribute significantly to positive patient experiences and outcomes.

This Leadership and Development Manager role will continue to uplift the capability of our leaders by designing and delivering a range of leadership, coaching, and career development initiatives at Alfred Health.

The role is highly collaborative, working with workforce teams and senior leaders to co-design and deliver fit-for-purpose leadership and development initiatives. It will also lead organisational-wide career development efforts, embedding our leadership capability framework, self-assessment tools, and development resources and programs to strengthen career development options and pathways.

The role will support talent identification and shape targeted development offerings to help build the future leadership of Alfred Health.

You will:

  • Design, deliver and evaluate leadership programs across all levels
  • Lead career development initiatives aligned with employee experience insights
  • Partner across People & Culture and operational teams to embed our Leadership Capability Framework
  • Oversee coaching programs and leadership events
  • Lead and inspire high-performing teams

Experience and Qualifications Required

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in organisational psychology, education, learning & development, or related field
  • Extensive experience in leadership and career development, including capability frameworks
  • Proven ability to design and deliver enterprise-level leadership programs
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver practical, outcomes-focused learning initiatives

Desirable:

  • Experience in the public health or healthcare sector
  • Coaching certification
