On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department

Acute and Integrated Care is part of Alfred Health’s Home, Acute and Community (HAC) Program. This program plays a vital role in Victoria’s health system, delivering seamless care from hospital to home. Acute and Integrated Care oversees inpatient wards and hospital-based services, working closely with Emergency Departments, specialty units, and community partners to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.

The Role

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Operations – Acute and Integrated Care, the Operations Manager – Acute and Integrated Care provides strategic and operational leadership across inpatient wards within the Acute and Integrated Care stream of the Home, Acute and Community Program.

This role is accountable for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care through effective management of ward operations, patient flow, and resource utilization, in alignment with Alfred Health and HAC strategic directions and DHHS guidelines.

As a key member of the HAC Executive team, the Operations Manager will lead initiatives that optimize ward performance and contribute to broader program priorities, including scaling, integrating, and reforming care beyond hospital walls. The position plays a critical role in driving innovation in models of care, improving patient experience, and supporting sustainable service delivery across acute settings.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
  • Demonstrated experience and success in health service management and leadership, and an understanding of health services and service delivery objectives
  • Strong financial and operational planning skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams and build partnerships across health sectors
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Masters level qualification or working towards i.e. completion of units to grad cert level
