About us

Headspace Early Psychosis is one of the world’s most innovative and comprehensive youth early psychosis programs being delivered through one program in each Australian state. Through this initiative, young people and their families have timely access to comprehensive evidence-based early psychosis services. This program aims to intervene early with young people who have unusual sensory experiences and/or beliefs and their families and supporters. The service builds on strengths and resilience, uses the wisdom of lived experience and fosters hope, potential, and recovery.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will be supported to gain clinical experience in community youth mental health nursing and develop skills in the assessment, treatment and coordination of care for young people experiencing psychosis and co-occurring mental health/substance use problems.

The role involves the provision of mental health nursing care in a variety of clinic based and outreach settings to young people and their families, as part of a broader multidisciplinary team. Skills in risk/mental state assessment, care planning, relevant legislation and knowledge of community mental and addiction nursing care/practice will be developed and are essential in undertaking this role. Well-developed interpersonal skills are required to effectively consult and with consumers, carers, family members, support persons and other professionals.

**NOTE** Shifts are Mon-Fri AM (8am-4.30pm) or PM (1.30pm-10pm) and Sat and Sun AM shift only (9.30am-6pm)

About you

  • Approved tertiary qualifications and current unrestricted as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
  • At least 12 months previous clinical experience as an RPN 2 and successful completion of the Alfred Mental and Addiction Health Graduate Nurse Program or equivalent mental health graduate nurse program for external candidates
  • Commenced or be enrolled in postgraduate study i.e. Diploma of Mental Health Nursing (desirable)
  • Current Victorian Driver License and current Working with Children Check
