The Department

The Disability Act 2006 mandates that all health services prepare a Disability Action Plan and report on its implementation. The Disability Access and Inclusion Plan is Alfred Health’s strategy to make sure that all patients and staff feel welcome, safe and included.  

The Disability Team at Alfred Health Care Group encompasses strategic initiatives promoting access and inclusion as well as clinical disability services. These cover all sites and services of Alfred Health Care Group and are aligned to Alfred Health strategic goals and operational performance targets. The Disability Team is committed to the provision of high quality, evidence-based care, and strongly values professional development and supervision.

The Role

The Disability Access and Inclusion Project Officer will support the Disability Teams and Disability Access and Inclusion Lead to undertake strategic projects to progress service improvement. Using improvement science principles and robust project management methodology, the Project Officer will contribute to the design, implementation, reporting and evaluation of projects.

Specifically, this role will focus on supporting any projects that align with the Priority Areas outlined in the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan and will support the Disability Access and Inclusion Lead with the development of the next Disability Access and Inclusion Plan for Alfred Care Group.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Project Officer will have a multifaceted role, including:   

  • Developing comprehensive project plans outlining case for change, objectives, and timelines.  
  • Conducting current-state analyses, including benchmarking with like services.  
  • Identifying, engaging and influencing key stakeholders. 
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive communication plans.  
  • Driving projects to meet timelines and providing regular project reporting. 
  • Contributing to the evaluation and sustained implementation of project interventions.  
  • Maintaining detailed project documentation.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications  
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or equivalent as appropriate, with adherence to continuing professional development requirements.

Desirable  

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in health, business or project management.   
  • Knowledge of wider health and disability issues including government policies and knowledge of how these impact clinical practice.
