About the Unit

The Medical Oncology Unit provides a coordinated multidisciplinary comprehensive cancer service and major full-service care capability for adult patients with malignancy, in conjunction with Alfred Care Group’s Radiation Oncology and Palliative Care Services, as well as a wide variety of other sub-specialities.

About the Role

This role requires a Medical Oncologist to assume responsibility for clinical care of allocated patients and participate in setting the standards of high-quality clinical practice within the Medical Oncology Unit. Preferred candidates will have a background in clinical trials and a demonstrable commitment to academic career development by undertaking a PhD at Monash University in a Medical Oncology-related field.

Qualifications and Experience

Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes:

  • Appointees must be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) without conditions, undertakings or reprimands that could impact on their clinical practice
  • Fellow of the relevant college
  • Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Medical Oncology
  • Meeting Alfred Care Group requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Medical Oncology
  • Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels
  • Demonstrated flexibility in problem solving and the capability to develop and sustain highly collaborative relationships with others/ other teams.
  • Enrolment (or clear and supervisor-approved plan for such) in a higher degree at Monash University
