The Department
People and Culture includes HR Services and Employee Experience (HR Department), Organisational Development, Learning and Innovation, Patient Experience and Consumer Engagement and Redesigning Care. The operational component of People and Culture is located in the HR Services and Employee Experience Department and includes Employee Relations, Recruitment, OH&S and HR Consultancy and Employee Advice services.
The Employee Relations Team is a small team of ER professionals based at the Alfred hospital (Prahran) campus. The ER Team delivers high-level, high-quality advice to Alfred managers and employees about all matters to do with employment at Alfred Care Group, such as implementing workplace regulations and laws, contracts of employment, the application of industrial instruments and enterprise agreements and their terms and conditions of employment.
The Role
The role initially will be located in the Payroll team where the successful applicant will use their skills in interpretation of enterprise agreements to implement the agreements to a new payroll system. The role will then transfer to an ER Advisor role, providing ER advice to internal and external stakeholders.
We are looking for a self starter with a comprehensive knowledge of enterprise agreements (preferably experienced in health based agreements) who can work within a dynamic team of payroll specialists and within a team of dedicated ER advisors. The successful applicant will cope within a busy environment with multiple competing priorities.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- At least 1-2 years’ experience in Employee Relations or 3-4 years’ relevant HR Business Partner experience.
- In depth knowledge and experience in interpreting and providing advice on workplace legislation and enterprise agreements, as well as providing generalist HR advice to senior managers.
- Experience in conducting workplace investigations, including the preparation of reports and advice to clients/internal stakeholders.
- Experience negotiating with unions/employees.
- Assist with representing Alfred Care Group in tribunal matters such as conciliation proceedings at Fair Work Commission (FWC) - seeking advice from Senior Employee Relations Advisor and/ or the Deputy Director Employee Relations & Experience where required.
