Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department
Alfred Health are coordinating the Regional Emergency and Critical Care Systems Strengthening Initiative (RECSI) funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade under its Regional Health Partnerships (RHP) scheme. RECSI aims to build on the experience of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in relation to the need for local critical care capacity, and the value of resilient emergency care systems in detecting and responding to health emergencies. RECSI will also act as a mechanism for embedding the World Health Organisation’s emergency care systems framework across the region and progressing World Health Assembly resolutions 72.16 and 76.2.
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Regional Emergency and Critical Care Systems Strengthening Initiative (RECSI) as the Nursing Advisor – Critical Care (Pacific).
This role contributes to a complex, multi-stream, multi-year project that aims to enhance emergency and critical care provision in the Pacific Region.
Working remotely, the Nursing Advisor will be responsible for the coordination and management of critical care nursing activities within the project's Pacific stream. Working closely with the Program Leads for Critical Care and other program staff, this role will provide strategic direction, lead activity implementation, and deliver technical advice regarding critical care nursing activities.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Experienced critical care nurse with demonstrated background and aptitude in international program or project management. As well as clinical expertise, the role requires well-honed skills in stakeholder engagement, evidence-based practice, proposal development, data analysis, cross-functional collaboration, cultural competency, and ethical practices.
