The Alfred Cardiothoracic Surgery service provides a broad range of highly specialised procedures including cardiac and pulmonary transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and pulmonary endarterectomy. The Service is a leader in transplantation and circulatory support and performs over 700 cardiac and 700 thoracic cases annually providing services to both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Applications are invited for the position of Specialist in Cardiothoracic Surgery (Full Time).
Qualifications and Experience:
- Appointees must be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) without conditions, undertakings or reprimands that could impact on their clinical practice.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
- Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Recent contemporary training in Thoracic Organ Transplantation at a recognised centre.
- A commitment to research and/or a planned research project in the aforementioned field
- Preferably, established expertise in a New Technology area that will value-add to the current activities of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department.
- Meets Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Experience in teaching and an involvement in research are desirable.
