Position Summary

An exciting opportunity exists for a Grade 2 Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy team at Alfred Health in a permanent capacity. This position will commence at Sandringham Hospital applying their knowledge, skill and expertise to deliver excellent clinical service to a range of diagnostics groups including unwell General Medicine patients and orthopaedic caseloads. The Occupational Therapists will provide high-quality assessment and intervention to promote occupational performance, contribute to timely progression of care and facilitation of discharge pathways to home and the community for these patients. They will work closely and collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to contribute to patient centred comprehensive care.

Grade 2 clinicians have an important role in leading various teaching/training and quality improvement activities across the Occupational Therapy Service, and will be responsible for the supervision and mentoring of junior Occupational Therapy staff, Allied Health Assistants and/or undergraduate students. They will be well supported by an experienced Grade 3 senior Occupational Therapist including regular supervision and access to professional development opportunities. The Occupational Therapy department delivers a 7-day service across a number of clinical areas at Alfred Health.  This position includes the requirement of working 1 weekend shift per fortnight to support weekend service delivery.

Experience/Qualifications

  • B. App Sc (OT), B. Occupational Therapy, MOT prac or recognised equivalent.
  • Full Registration held with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Member of OT Australia (or eligibility for membership).
  • Minimum three years of clinical experience in Occupational Therapy including experience in an acute hospital setting.
