The Department

Health Information Services provides a range of functions including VAED reporting, medical record management, clinical information requests, Alfred and Caulfield Switchboard Services along with Enquiries Services at The Alfred, Caulfield Hospital and the Paula Fox Melanoma Cancer Centre.

The Role

The Alfred has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Communications & Information Release Officer to join the Health Information Services (HIS) team and contribute to two key business areas.

The Clinical Communications team in HIS are responsible for processing over 6,000 outpatient transcriptions per month ensuring that all dictated transcriptions reach their destination, i.e. correct Doctor/GP, correct encounter, etc. The team is also responsible for actioning any failed distribution of discharge summaries and maintaining various clinical databases.

The Information Release team in Health Information Service manages over 2000 Information Release requests per month. These requests come from GP’s, treating Dr’s and other health services to provide ongoing patient care. We currently have a part time opening within HIS to fulfil this role.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Year 12 / Victorian Certificate of Education
  • Previous clerical experience, preferably in a Hospital environment
  • Highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills

The successful applicant must have demonstrated excellent, clear and effective communication skills. They will be responsible for providing a professional representation of Alfred Health and have the ability to prioritise tasks, promote and maintain good customer relations, professional behaviour and team spirit.
