SOUTHEAST Community Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (CYFMHS)
Southeast Community Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (Community FYMHS) is a new initiative of the Victorian Government designed to strengthen the systemic response to young people aged 10-21 years at risk of offending and those who have begun offending. Through earlier mental health consultation and intervention, this program seeks to prevent more serious and life changing consequences of offending.
This program offers forensic advice to Child and Youth Mental Health Services in the east of Victoria, along with agencies that relate to the justice system so that their capacity to respond to emerging young offenders is increased through support, liaison, consultation and co-delivered services. Established consultation processes, recovery frameworks, and family and peer interventions will be utilised to support this multidisciplinary initiative. Principles of Co-design will be enacted to establish key priorities for action for the team and to evaluate the effectiveness of the initiative.
The Role
In this role, you will support an integrated intake process within Alfred Care Group Infant, Child & Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS) and headspace programs along with co-ordination of the CYFMHS. Specialist consultation support and assistance will be provided to enhance an integrated system and service response. A key emphasis will be to support the skill development of clinicians and workers to expand capacity to intervene early and prevent escalation of offending behaviours. This may occur through service development, education, and/or primary and secondary consultation.
