The Department
The Alfred Sleep Service is committed to providing a high quality clinical service and is actively involved in Sleep Medicine Research. 

Position Summary

We are seeking candidates with an appropriate science/psychology degree or who have a nursing degree to work as a Sleep Scientist in the Sleep Laboratory.  These hours are to facilitate the support and co-ordination of a home sleep testing service at Bass Coast Health (BCH).   The position will consist of 2.5 hours of support to staff setting up home sleep tests at Cowes or Wonthaggi Hospital and an additional minimum of 4 hours scoring per week.  As workload requires, there could be an additional 4 hours per week.  All of these hours are expected to be undertaken onsite in the Alfred Sleep Laboratory, unless mutually agreed time to attend a Bass Coast Health Hospital.  We would expect the successful candidate to cover shifts when other staff may be absent. 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

  • Bachelor of Science or Psychology
  • Previous experience as a Sleep Scientist is required
  • Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to deal with patients and colleagues  in a professional manner. 
  • Applicants must be task focussed, highly motivated and show initiative. 
  • They must be quick to learn, reliable and be able to work independently as well as part of an integrated team.
  • Applicants need to be flexible and able to accommodate change easily.
  • ECG interpretation and ABG sampling skills are desirable.
