This technology will assist us to enhance documentation accuracy and generate actionable data to support patient outcomes and reimbursement.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Health Information Manager to join our vibrant Coding & Casemix Services Team as a Clinical Documentation Specialist/Advisor.
In this high-impact role, you'll not only work collaboratively with clinicians and health information managers, but you’ll also become a key voice across the organisation, regularly presenting to both large and small clinical and non-clinical groups. Whether it's at ward rounds, education sessions, or meetings, you'll be driving home the importance of accurate and complete documentation.
Essential:
- Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent) with eligibility for full HIMAA membership.
- 5-7 years' experience in clinical coding or documentation improvement within a large health service.
- Strong communicator with confidence presenting to clinical teams, small groups, and larger forums.
- Proven ability to build relationships, influence change, and engage busy clinicians.
- Excellent analytical skills and a data-informed approach to quality improvement.
- Up-to-date knowledge of ICD-10-AM, ACS, VAED, and the National Funding Model.
- Independent, organised, and comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
- Experience with EMRs (Cerner preferred) and PAS (iPM).
- Clinical coding experience in a tertiary hospital.
- Experience designing and delivering education programs on documentation or coding.
