On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Position

This position offers a unique opportunity to join the dynamic and growing Dermatology Unit at the Alfred and Peninsula University Hospital. Alfred Dermatology is a major Dermatology teaching, clinical and translational research unit and the tertiary referral centre for South-Eastern Melbourne, regional and rural Victoria. We are running general Dermatology and multiple subspecialist multidisciplinary clinics, including for immunobullous and oral mucosal disease, HS, Biologics, Dermatology-Rheumatology, skin drug reactions and immunosuppressed patients. This provides  significant opportunities for multidisciplinary engagement and support for career advancement. The position is best suited for candidates with a clinical and academic interest in Medical Dermatology, with a dual appointment possible with Monash University. Additional protected research time may be negotiated for suitable applicants. We encourage candidates wishing to pursue a career in Public Hospital dermatology to apply for this position. This position is for up to 0.36 FTE.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes:

  • Appointees must be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) without conditions, undertakings or reprimands that could impact on their clinical practice.
  • Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists
  • Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Dermatology 
  • Meets Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Dermatology
  • Experience in teaching and an involvement in research are desirable
  • Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels
  • Demonstrated flexibility in problem solving and the capability to develop and sustain highly collaborative relationships with others/ other teams
