The Department

Alfred Health’s Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated nutrition and dietetic service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. The joint Nutrition Department is comprised of approximately 48EFT and 70 staff members. It is organised into eight clinical streams and provides a 7-day service. Using evidence-based, patient-centred care it provides clinical expertise to Alfred Health’s patients during their healthcare journey, including the prevention and treatment of malnutrition and the optimisation of nutritional wellbeing and recovery through tailored, specialised nutrition therapy.

 

The Role

Alfred Health’s Dietetic & Nutrition Department is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and skilled Grade 2 Dietitian to join a busy clinical department located at Caulfield Hospital. The Grade 2 Dietitian is part of a team providing nutrition care to a range of clinical services including the Better at Home program. The role will work closely with Senior Dietitians to promote and develop nutrition services through teamwork, collaboration, innovation and communication. Student education, supervision of Grade 1 Dietitians and Nutrition Assistants and active participation in quality and/or research activities are integral to this role.

 

Skills

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in the assessment and nutritional management of patients, encompassing provision of enteral and oral nutrition support.

  • Excellent communication skills, proficiency in nutrition education and basic computer skills.

  • Experience in student supervision.

  • Understanding of quality improvement and service development.

  • Eligibility for membership of DA and APD credentialing.

  • Minimum of three years clinical experience.
