Position Summary

The Disability Access and Inclusion Project Officer will support the Disability Teams to undertake strategic projects within to progress service improvement. Using improvement science principles and robust project management methodology, the Project Officer will contribute to the design, implementation, reporting and evaluation of projects.  

Specifically, this role will focus on initial project design for a multi-site evaluation of Disability Awareness training which was designed and implemented as part of the SPEAK Project. The SPEAK Project aims to overcome sensory and communication barriers when getting healthcare at our hospitals. These barriers are often experienced by autistic people, people with intellectual disability, and communication disability. The SPEAK Project focuses on this group and the carers, family members, friends, and staff who support them along their healthcare journey.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Project Officer will have a multifaceted role, including:   

  • Developing comprehensive project plans outlining case for change, objectives, and timelines.  
  • Conducting current-state analyses, including benchmarking with like services.  
  • Identifying, engaging and influencing key stakeholders. 
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive communication plans.  
  • Driving projects to meet timelines and providing regular project reporting. 
  • Contributing to the evaluation and sustained implementation of project interventions.  
  • Maintaining detailed project documentation.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications  
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or equivalent as appropriate, with adherence to continuing professional development requirements. 

Desirable  

  • Relevant Post-Graduate Qualification in health, business or project management.   
  • Knowledge of wider health and disability issues including government policies and knowledge of how these impact clinical practice.
