Alfred Health

Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

  • Permanent Part Time Position - 0.5 EFT (40hrs per f/n)
  • Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 2
  • Located at The Greenhouse, Alfred Hospital
  • Rotating 24 hours shift roster with hours scheduled over 7 days per week

About the Team

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

The newly integrated Adult and Older Adult Service combines AMAH Adult Community Mental Health and Caulfield Aged and Liaison Psychiatry Services to provide comprehensive, person-centred support for adults and older adults. We offer a wide range of therapeutic, addiction, trauma-informed, and family violence services.

In line with the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health recommendations and the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, we are expanding our services to provide specialised expertise and broad-spectrum care, including pathways for substance use, rehabilitation, recovery, and trauma-focused care.

Our approach focuses on integrated treatment, education, peer support, care planning, and navigation, supporting individuals at every stage of their recovery journey.

Join us in reshaping mental health care with compassionate, specialised support to create meaningful change for our community.

The Greenhouse is an acute inpatient assessment unit at the Alfred Hospital which consists of 15 beds and is staffed on an interdisciplinary model with 24-hour nursing care. As it is a unit treating patients with acute conditions there is an expectation that patients will be discharged to their original address or other more appropriate environments as soon as they are ready for discharge. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) sessions are usually conducted on Mondays and Fridays as required.

About the Role

The position is based at The Alfred Hospital – Aged Mental Health Unit. The incumbent will be closely supervised by the RPN3s and senior clinician to provide a secondary support role to residents at The Greenhouse.
The position will provide the incumbent the opportunity to develop skills in community and develop a portfolio of community support services.
