The Occupational Therapy Department at Alfred Health

Alfred Health - Occupational Therapy Services operates across The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals, with clinical services aligned to Alfred Health strategic goals and operational performance targets.

The Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service
Alfred Health's Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Rehabilitation Service provides rehabilitation services for people with moderate to severe acquired brain injuries including traumatic brain injuries, stroke, hypoxic brain injuries, and other causes of non-progressive brain injury. The service is comprised of a 36-bed inpatient rehabilitation service, a community rehabilitation service, and residential rehabilitation in a 4-bed transitional living service.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and skilled senior occupational therapist who will be recognised as a clinical leader both within the Occupational Therapy department and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) inpatient rehabilitation service. The successful applicant will hold clinical responsibilities as well as provide leadership and regular clinical supervision to staff and students. They will deliver specialist assessment and intervention targeting occupational performance activities that have been impacted by brain injury-related changes to cognition, behaviour, and physical abilities.

Working within a highly skilled interdisciplinary team, the Senior Clinician supports innovation including contributing to quality improvement activities, leading designated portfolios, projects or strategic initiatives that support service excellence.

About You: Qualifications Required:

• Occupational Therapy Qualification
• Current full registration held with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA) or equivalent.
• Member of OT Australia (or eligibility for membership) or equivalent.
• Current Victorian Driver’s License (unrestricted).

About You: Skills & Experience

• Minimum seven years’ clinical experience in Occupational Therapy or equivalent 
• Extensive clinical experience in and knowledge of patient-centred, occupation-based practice Occupational Therapy for patients with acquired brain injury
• Specialist skills in assessment and management of patients with acquired brain injury/non-progressive neurological cognitions.
• Previous experience in a rehabilitation setting.
• Ability to lead, supervise and provide professional development and support to staff and students.
• Evidence of previous involvement in the development and implementation of quality improvement activities.
