About Us

Ngamai Wilam is a newly built 12-bed residential eating disorder treatment facility in Armadale, opening in May 2025. Jointly funded by the Australian Federal Government and the Victorian Government, this statewide specialist service is managed by Alfred Health.

Ngamai Wilam provides 24/7 trauma-informed, recovery-focused care for adults aged 18 and over in a gender-inclusive, home-like therapeutic environment. With a strong focus on family and chosen supports, our approach is deeply person-centred, prioritising dignity, choice, and long-term recovery.

As part of AMAH Statewide Services, alongside WREN (Women’s Recovery Network), Ngamai Wilam is at the forefront of innovative mental health care, integrating Open Dialogue principles to promote collaborative and holistic recovery.

About the Role

As an Allied Health Clinician (Social Worker or Occupational Therapist) at Ngamai Wilam, you will:

  • Play a key role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey within a residential eating disorder program.

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and collaboratively develop goal-oriented care plans.

  • Deliver evidence-informed therapeutic interventions to support individuals with eating disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges.

  • Work autonomously within a small, supportive team, with direct access to leadership and clinical expertise.

  • Collaborate closely with nurses, peer workers, dietitians, and lived experience practitioners in a truly multidisciplinary environment.

  • Contribute to service development and innovation, ensuring best-practice care for participants.

About You

  • For Occupational Therapists: Bachelor of Applied Science (OT) or equivalent from a recognised school of Occupational Therapy. AHPRA registration required.

  • For Social Workers: Approved Social Work degree, eligible for membership with the AASW.

  • A passion for working with individuals experiencing eating disorders and a commitment to recovery-oriented practice.

  • Experience (or strong interest) in eating disorders across hospital, community, or specialised programs (desirable).

  • Postgraduate qualifications or working towards (desirable).

  • Experience working in residential or mental health settings (desirable).

  • A strong understanding of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act (2022) and relevant legislation.

  • Current Victorian Driver’s License, Working with Children Check, and Background Check.
