The Department
Alfred Health’s Nuclear Medicine and PET departments provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic services available to Alfred in-patients and outpatients including those referred externally. The department is equipped specialised state-of-the art imaging equipment, a comprehensive radiopharmacy laboratory and now includes a Total Body PET scanner located at the newly opened Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre. The department is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of specialists, technologists, physicists, nurses, and clerical and support staff and is actively involved with training, education and research.
The Role
Provide operational support and assistance to the Nuclear Medicine Technologists in the delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic patient services. Work closely with technologists and under supervision to ensure patient procedures are carried out efficiently while maintaining a high standard of care. Greet, escort and prepare patients in readiness for their procedures. Perform a range of patient and administrative duties as delegated by and under the supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
AHAs may be rostered to work at either the Paula Fox Melanoma & Cancer Centre - Theranostics Service B1 or The main hospital Alfred Nuclear Medicine and PET (1st Floor, East Block).
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Completion of Certificate IV (Allied Health Assistance) from a registered training organisation, OR
- Recognised equivalent qualification (as determined by the line manager):
- Allied Health undergraduate student in Medical Radiations/Nuclear Medicine Technology (or other relevant health science discipline) having successfully completed one year of study at minimum
- Higher qualification in a relevant health science discipline at Diploma or Associate Diploma level
- Certificate level qualification in a relevant health-related field
- Overseas-trained Allied Health practitioner with a qualification at Diploma level or higher
