The Department
AC3 has 25 inpatient bed fast stream rehabilitation unit which specialises in the care of nontraumatic spinal injuries and patients who have undergone an amputation. We also care for orthopaedic, trauma and cardiac patients as well as general rehabilitation.
The Role
The Ward Clerk is responsible for the coordination of communication, patient services and clerical functions as directed by the Nurse Manager of designated ward or department. The Ward Clerk's responsibilities include:
- Filing and clerical duties
- Update and manning board or patient lists in the ward clerk’s office/desk
- Communicate patient discharge, transfer and condition information to the Enquiry Office and Admitting Officer (via computer terminal or telephone)
- Maintain supply of patient identification labels
- Maintain ward stationery supplies
- Arrange collection of X-rays and Medical Equipment as required
- Organise the collection and delivery of equipment
- Organise maintenance request (“job dockets”)
- Update the indexes of Hospital Policy Manuals and directives
- General typing duties
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong communication skills
- Clerical experience
- Typing and computer skills
