The Department

The Alfred Health Radiation Oncology (AHRO) Department is a unit of a comprehensive cancer service provided by Alfred Health. The Department is comprised of two units, Alfred Radiation Oncology (ARO) located in the South Block at The Alfred and Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO), located at Latrobe Regional Health, Traralgon. Together, the two units provide the full range of radiation oncology and radiation therapy services (with the exception of paediatrics) in addition to some specialized services with both state and national significance.

The Role

The Gippsland Radiation Oncology department has a vacancy for a full-time Data Manager, although part-time applications will be considered.

The successful applicant will be involved in the maintenance of departmental databases for all patients attending the department as well as assisting in related research projects.

Competence in computer systems, excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently is required. Previous experience in a health care and/or medical research environment would be highly regarded and previous oncology experience would be an advantage. Qualifications in health information management, science or allied health professions are desirable.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health, Science, Health Information Management or a related paramedical discipline  
  • Previous experience in data management or clinical trials is desirable  
  • Skilled in hospital based or similar computer systems  
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills  
  • Strong organisational and workload management skills and proven attention to detail  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Ability to develop and maintain databases and data collection systems 
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data collected
