Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

Department
The Safety & Wellbeing team provides leadership, strategic guidance, systems, risk reporting/monitoring and expert advice in key areas such as OHS management systems, occupational violence, manual handling and ergonomics, workplace injury prevention and management, emergency preparedness and wellbeing initiatives.
Position
The Safety and Wellbeing Training Lead will be responsible for managing the team that develop, implement, and continue to improve the safety and wellbeing training programs across the organisation. This position plays a pivotal role in enhancing the safety culture by ensuring that all employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills to work safely and effectively. The role involves working closely with direct reports to ensure alignment in safety initiatives and programs while ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations and organisational policies.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Tertiary qualification in Training and Assessment, Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent professional experience in Healthcare or other industry.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in managing and mentoring a small team.
- Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills
- Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in a safety learning and development roles, ideally with exposure to both general workplace safety, emergency management, OVA and manual handling training.
- Proven experience in developing and delivering training programs, with a clear understanding of adult learning principles.
- Victorian Driver’s Licence
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence staff at all levels.
- High-level organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess safety risks and develop effective training solutions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management Systems (LMS) or similar training tools.
