We work in partnership with clinical programs to support enrolled, undergraduate, registered, and postgraduate nurses to deliver exceptional, evidence-based care. About the role

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is a key educational leader within the Specialty Medicine program at Alfred Health. 

Aligned to the program and working closely with Nursing Services, Nurse Managers, and the wider Nursing Education team, the CNE:

  • identifies, anticipates, and responds to developmental needs within the clinical environment
  • delivers high-quality formal and informal education
  • supports learners across all levels, including undergraduate students, graduates, developing nurses, and postgraduate participants
  • provides guidance, role modelling, and coaching to support safe, evidence-based practice
  • contributes to program-level educational planning, quality improvement, and guideline development
  • fosters a positive learning culture that values inquiry, reflective practice, and continuous improvement

This role requires leadership, collaboration, and a passion for building capability across a diverse nursing workforce.

About you

You will be someone who brings enthusiasm, professionalism, and a commitment to education, with:

  • current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  • demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, including holding a postgraduate qualification in a relevant clinical area (minimum Graduate Certificate)
  • desirable: currently undertaking or intending to pursue a Master of Nursing or Education
  • demonstrated experience in an education or education-support role
  • extensive clinical knowledge and experience in acute, subacute, or community nursing
  • strong communication, interpersonal, and reflective practice skills
  • ability to lead, influence, and support others in a dynamic clinical environment
  • a commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice
