Senior Pharmacist – Gastroenterology

• Classification: Grade 3 Hospital Pharmacist SX6 - SX81
• Award: Victorian Public Sector (Medical Scientists, Pharmacists and Psychologists) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2025
• Full-Time, Fixed Term Position (12 months) - 80 hours per fortnight plus ADO

The Department

The Pharmacy Department is a recognised leader in the provision of comprehensive contemporary pharmacy services and has integrated clinical, educational, research and stewardship programs.  This includes unit based and patient centred clinical pharmacy programs supported by established education programs including foundation and advanced training residencies as well as formalised credentialing programs for many innovative clinical roles. The Pharmacy Department prioritises the delivery of excellence in patient care and the development, evaluation and adoption of innovative practices that improve the services provided.   

Clinical pharmacy services are aligned with the Alfred Health clinical program structure. Clinical pharmacists are attached to medical units and work alongside medical, nursing and allied health teams to achieve the best medication outcomes for patients. Each team of clinical pharmacists is supported by a Lead Clinical Pharmacist with specialist expertise. The Role

The Senior Clinical Pharmacist - Gastroenterology is responsible for the day-to-day delivery and development of clinical pharmacy services to the Alfred Health Gastroenterology Unit and related ambulatory services.

Working within the inpatient and outpatient multi-disciplinary teams, you will provide innovative pharmacy services to achieve the best medical outcomes for individual patients. You will also contribute to improving medication management on a larger scale through practice-based research and service improvement work. As Alfred Health is an academic health centre, you will supervise and mentor local and international students as well as intern and rotational clinical pharmacists.

• High level of clinical skills and knowledge as well as judgement and reasoning
• Patient-centred approach to care
• Problem-solving and risk assessment abilities and the ability to use initiative
• Excellent communication, time management, and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise, plan and organise your work and deliver to deadlines
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams

Qualifications & Experience required

• Registered pharmacist with AHPRA
• Relevant post-graduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy highly desirable
• Extensive experience in the provision of clinical pharmacy services
• Extensive hospital pharmacy experience with a demonstrated understanding of contemporary practice in hospital clinical pharmacy services, QuM and therapeutics  
• Experience in Gastroenterology is highly desirable
