About the Department

Neurology has long been recognised as one of the major clinical and research strengths of Alfred Care Group and Monash University. In 2018, the Neurology Unit joined with the other medical neuroscience units, Stroke, Epilepsy and MSNI, and with the Neurosurgery Unit to form a new Clinical Program, Alfred Brain, as one of the flagship academic clinical programs of Alfred Care Group. In 2019 the Monash-Alfred Psychiatry Centre (MAPrc) joined as a 6th Unit of the Program.

About the Role

Applications are invited for the position of Locum Specialist in Neurology (Fractional) to backfill parental leave from April 2026 to March 2027.

There are multiple sessions available.

Neuro-ophthalmology: Tue AM and Thu PM, The Alfred Hospital

Headache and Botox: Thu AM and Fri AM, Caulifeld Campus

Qualifications and Skills Required

Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes:

• Appointees must be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) without conditions, undertakings or reprimands that could impact on their clinical practice
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians
• Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Neurology
• Meeting Alfred Care Group requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Neurology
• Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills
• Ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels
• Demonstrated flexibility in problem solving and the capability to develop and sustain highly collaborative relationships with others/ other teams.
