We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist looking to move into specialised practice within the Surgical Services specialty.
The Program and Surgical Services
The Alfred Care Group Advanced Training Residency Program provides pharmacists with a formal structured program to support progression to advanced practice in a specific speciality practice area. We are looking for a pharmacist with an interest in specialising in the surgical services field to join the program as a Surgical Advanced Training Resident.
Alfred Care Group has a large elective and emergency surgical program consisting of multiple units, including Acute General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Otolaryngology Head and Neck, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology, Vascular and Radiology
Surgical Services is home to three statewide services:
- Major Trauma Service
- The largest and most active Trauma Service in Australasia. Over 5000 patients are admitted annually, with over 1000 patients classed as major trauma.
- The Victorian Adult Burns Service
- Statewide provider of burns care for all Victorian adults with complex major burn injuries, as well as many people with less severe burns. Each year approximately 400 patients are transferred to the states specialist burns service for management. Bariatric Service
- The Upper GI unit performs bariatric surgery for patients throughout the state.
The Two-year Advanced Training Residency offers
- Formal structured learning within chosen specialty.
- A two-year full-time Grade 2 appointment within the Alfred Clinical Pharmacy Service.
- Formal awarding of an AdPha Registrar in the chosen specialty at the completion of the program.
- Opportunities for breadth placements where aligned with chosen specialties, including offsite at our partner hospitals in regional Victoria or the Northern Territory
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Applicant must be a registered pharmacist with AHPRA essential
- Clinical experience of 3 to 5 years in clinical practice essential
- Recognition as a Resident with the Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) OR hold an existing industry equivalent recognition desirable
