Bayside Health

Bayside Health is a public health service delivering high-quality care across every stage of life for close to 1.2 million people living in metropolitan Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, Koo Wee Rup, Bass Coast and Southern Gippsland. We have more than 15 main sites, including hospitals, centres and clinics that provide comprehensive care from welcoming newborns to supporting older people and a full range of services in between. More than 22,000 dedicated staff are focused on providing exceptional, equitable, and locally connected care through shared expertise, compassion, and a commitment to continuous growth. Education and training are central to staff development as we encourage all employees to strive and thrive. Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

Bayside Health - Alfred Care Group provides comprehensive specialist physical and mental healthcare to residents of Melbourne’s inner south, in addition to a range of state-wide services. Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) has a reputation for excellence and innovation in service delivery, research and training.

In order to deliver on the vision and recommendations of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, AMAH is now made up of four clinical departments – Hospital & Emergency, Statewide Services (including Wren and Ngamai Wilam), Adult & Older Adult and Child & Youth Mental Health Services.

Alfred Adult Inpatient Mental Health (IMH) sits within the AMAH Hospital & Emergency Department. The service comprises 54 beds across two inpatient units. Patient care is provided by a dynamic multidisciplinary team, including well established carer and consumer peer workers. Inpatient psychiatrists are well supported by excellent junior medical staff, dedicated clinical and operational leadership.

An exciting opportunity exists for a consultant psychiatrist to join our IMH team commencing from June 2026 and work 20 - 24 hours per week.

Applicants must be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered with AHPRA and a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). RANZCP Trainees completing their final six months of Fellowship training will also be considered. Accreditation to supervise RANZCP trainees is highly desirable, and candidates must meet Alfred Care Group requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Psychiatry.
