Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

Alfred Health is currently seeking applications for Specialist in Infectious Diseases to work either Full Time or Fractional hours. 

The successful applicant will be a key part of the leadership team within Alfred Health’s Infection Prevention and Healthcare Epidemiology Unit, Department of Infectious Diseases.  This role aims to support the implementation of infection prevention interventions/initiatives and continuous improvement of the Unit through working collaboratively within it, and with internal and external Alfred Health stakeholders.      

Responsibilities will include guideline development, review and implementation; medical input into, and oversight of, outbreak and exposure responses; communication with stakeholders throughout Alfred Health; participation in internal and external reporting, including the Infection Prevention Committee; contribution to education and research activities; and development of specific quality improvement projects. The appointee will be required to undertake clinical activities within Department of Infectious Diseases.

Appointees must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Infectious Diseases is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Infectious Diseases.
