Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

Department
The Department of General Surgery at Alfred Health is a leading tertiary surgical service and one of Australia’s busiest. Based at both The Alfred Hospital and Sandringham Hospital, the department provides comprehensive elective and emergency general surgical care alongside subspecialty expertise including upper gastrointestinal, colorectal, hepatobiliary, endocrine, and trauma surgery. The department is strongly committed to excellence in clinical care, education, and research, working closely with the Monash University School of Clinical Sciences.
The Breast and Endocrine Unit at Alfred Health provides specialist surgical care for breast and endocrine conditions, including thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal disorders. The unit offers rapid assessment, multidisciplinary cancer care, and timely surgery, supported by a team of surgeons, endocrinologists, radiologists, and pathologists. It combines clinical excellence with research and teaching, ensuring comprehensive, patient-centred care.
The Role
Applications are open for a Locum Specialist in to join the Breast, Endocrine, and General Surgery Unit at Alfred Health. The position is to cover leave from 26 January 2026 to 22 February 2027 for 8 hours per week.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will be a fully qualified and AHPRA-registered medical practitioner with Fellowship of RACS. They will have relevant experience in Breast, Endocrine and General Surgery, meet Alfred Health credentialing standards, and be able to participate in the overnight on call roster. Teaching, and involvement in research are highly desirable. Strong communication, conflict-resolution, and collaborative problem-solving skills are essential to work effectively across teams.
