Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

Strategy and Planning

Strategy & Planning consists of Planning and Partnerships, Capital Projects, and Engineering & Facilities programs. Strategy and Planning provides strategic and planning leadership to Alfred Health across all levels of the organisation and leads major strategic projects and initiatives.

The Role

The Executive Assistant manages all administrative activities including correspondence, organising committees, preparing briefing materials for the Executive Director Strategy and Planning, Chief People Officer and their direct reports as required.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the offices of the Executive Directors (Strategy & Planning and People & Culture), ensuring that the office operates effectively and efficiently and that work processes and practices are carried out in a professional and co-ordinated manner
  • Manage the diary of the Executive Directors and designated staff as required, including arranging meetings and events within Alfred Health and external stakeholders
  • Support the Executive Directors Executive teams generally in the timely production of papers and presentations and co-ordination of appropriate documentation for regular and other specific meetings and events, ensuring deadlines are known and met and take minutes and record actions of meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as directed by the Executive Director

Skills and key capabilities

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organisation, patients and the community
  • Demonstrated compassion and integrity, and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues
  • Strong event management skills from planning through to successful implementation of the event

Qualifications / experience required

  • Relevant experience at Executive Assistant level with a proven ability to provide a broad range of support together with advanced knowledge, experience and accuracy in all facets of Microsoft Office and other IT systems
  • Health experience not required but will be looked on favourably
