We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department
Ward 3 East at the Alfred hospital is a 29-bed acute cardiac medical and surgical unit which forms part of the comprehensive cardiovascular service operating across the third floor. Our unit specialises in the management of critically unwell patients requiring Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Heart Failure services, inclusive of the state-wide transplantation and ventricular assist device service.
The Role
You will be responsible for the coordination of communication, patient services, and clerical functions as directed by the Nurse Manager of the designated ward or department.
- Word Processing (as applicable)
- Facilitate communication within the ward
- Arrange and coordinate patient services
- Clerical Duties
- Promote and maintain good customer relations with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel.
- If necessary to be away from desk area, ensure the registered nurse in charge of the ward is notified.
- Be aware of role during emergency procedures.
- Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times

Qualifications and/or Experience Required
- Great communication skills
- Typing and computer skills
- Clerical experience is highly desirable
