The Position Summary 

An exciting opportunity exists a for Grade 2 Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy team at The Alfred in a permanent capacity. 

The Grade 2 Occupational Therapist will carry a combined caseload of complex trauma, orthopaedics and neurological conditions including traumatic brain injuries. This role will be responsible for Occupational Therapy service delivery focusing on early rehabilitation, return to occupational performance, and complex discharge planning. You will work closely and collaboratively with the broader Allied Health team, including the Grade 4 Allied Health Team Leaders. You will provide early and intensive evidence-based intervention, which is shown to have positive outcomes in reducing the length of hospital stay resulting, in patients returning home sooner and continuation of rehabilitation in their own environment. You will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to optimise post-operative recovery, support discharge through the application of evidence-based intervention and contribute to service development in the Occupational Therapy department.  The successful applicant will be supported with opportunities to supervise Grade 1 clinicians and students; engage in quality improvement projects to improve service delivery; and ensure that evidence-based interventions are delivered. 

 

Skills and Qualifications Required 

  • B. App Sc (OT), B. Occupational Therapy, MOT prac or recognised equivalent
  • Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
  • Member of OT Australia (or eligibility for membership)
  • Minimum three years of clinical experience in Occupational Therapy
