Alfred Health - Occupational Therapy Services operates across The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals, with clinical services aligned to Alfred Health strategic goals and operational performance targets. The Occupational Therapy Operations Lead will have responsibilities across all Alfred Health sites.

About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for an Occupational Therapy Clinical Lead (Grade 4) to join the Alfred Health Occupational Therapy department in a permanent capacity. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with the Occupational Therapy management and senior leadership team to provide operational support to a workforce of over 80 EFT. They will actively contribute to the strategic development of the Occupational Therapy department and its staff, and provide supervision to ensure the provision of high-quality evidence-based Occupational Therapy services. The role will be responsible for supporting operational management, strategic development, workforce capability building, and coordination of Occupational Therapy services across acute and subacute services. The incumbent will hold core responsibilities including, but not limited to, leading and/or supporting:
- Strategic and quality improvement initiatives,
- Supervision of delegated staff, supporting workforce capability development,
- Business planning,
- Service evaluation projects,
- Operational accountability across clinical services,
- Workforce management (recruitment processes, payroll, IT services), and
- Staff education, evidence-based practice and research, where relevant.
The successful applicant will bring a dynamic and collaborative leadership style, be a committed team player and demonstrate highly developed communication skills.
It is a condition of employment that individuals may be required to work across all Alfred Health sites and services, including weekend and Public Holiday shifts as rostered.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and current AHPRA Registration
- Post-graduate clinical qualifications or health services management/administration / business management at a Masters level or Higher (or working towards the same).
- At least 10 years of experience working as an Occupational Therapist in a clinical and/or leadership role.
- Experience in the delivery of an Occupational Therapy service in a hospital environment.
- Well-established leadership skills with ability to inspire, influence, mentor and motivate others, contributing to a positive organisational culture.
- Demonstrated health system-wide knowledge and ability to respond to changing needs of Allied Health services.
- Desirable: experience in people management and/or operational leadership.
- Desirable: demonstrated ability in service development/quality improvement leadership, specifically planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical service delivery initiatives.
