About the Role

This is a subacute role based at Caulfield Hospital in the home based service, Better at Home. Better at Home is a contemporary and growing inpatient bed substitution model, providing inpatient-level multi-disciplinary assessment and evidence based rehabilitation to patients with a wide variety of clinical presentations in their own home environment or community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and skilled occupational therapist to provide high quality assessment and management of clients in the Better at Home program.  In this role, you will contribute to an interdisciplinary team approach to achieve optimal patient care. Along with the clinical responsibilities in this role, you will provide supervision to OT staff and students, and contribute to quality improvement and research activities within the Occupational Therapy Service. Alfred Health’s Occupational Therapy Service provides you with access to regular clinical supervision, opportunities for continued professional development and being part of a friendly and supportive team.

At Alfred Health, the Occupational Therapy service delivers a seven-day model of care and the incumbent in this role may be required to assist with weekend service provision on a periodic basis.

Skills and Experience Required

  • A minimum of 3 years clinical experience in occupational therapy
  • Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, and eligibility for OTA membership
  • Clinical experience and knowledge of client-centred, occupation-based practice for client with acquired brain injury
  • Demonstrated skills in both cognitive and physical assessment and intervention
  • Experience working within an interdisciplinary team to provide high quality rehabilitation
  • Experience working within an interdisciplinary team to provide high quality rehabilitation within a patient-centred, goal-directed framework
  • Experience in supervision of junior staff and students is highly desirable
  • Current Victorian Driver’s license
