About us

The Surgical Services program delivers the majority of surgical services across all Alfred Health sites. The program consists of surgical units, anaesthesia and perioperative medicine, operating suite service, two elective surgical inpatient wards, a medical day unit, day of surgery admissions, day surgery and endoscopy service. The program also oversees the elective surgery waiting list, medical elective waiting list and outpatient service which averages over 200,000 attendances per year 

About the role

The Assistant Deputy Director of Operations and Nursing – Quality & Safety, Wards and Workforce will be a nurse with operational responsibility for the effective delivery of services within the applicable program. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position will manage a component of the program’s activities and works with the Program leadership team to ensure that the program consistently delivers high quality, cost effective services for its patients and supports managers to deliver on unit and ward plans. The Assistant Deputy Director of Operations and Nursing – Quality & Safety, Wards and Workforce will provide strategic nursing leadership to consistently deliver a high quality, evidence-based and cost effective nursing service for patients. 

About you

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with tertiary qualification in health care and meets registration requirements with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia

Desirable

  • Holds or is working towards a Masters degree in health care or business management
  • Experience in nursing management and an understanding of health services and service delivery objectives.
  • A record of achievement in delivering services in accordance with the stated performance objectives
