About us
The Allied Health Professional Practice Framework underpins the work of Allied Health at Alfred Health in contributing to Alfred Health’s purpose. The Orthoptists play an integral role in providing clinical support to the Ophthalmology, and Neuro Ophthalmology services, operating in close physical and functional association with the Units. Assessment and management are provided for chronic ocular disease, ocular motility disorders, visual field and colour analysis and biophysical measurements.
About the role
An Orthoptics – Advanced Practice Practitioner is expected to be able to work independently and within a team, alongside and outside of the various Orthoptic, Ophthalmology and Neuro-Ophthalmology clinics. They need to undergo a strict credentialing regime as set collaboratively by the Alfred Health Orthoptic and Ophthalmology departments according to protocols and governed by the Alfred Health Scope of Practice committee.
About you
Essential
- Bachelor of Applied Science - Orthoptics, or recognised equivalent
- Level post graduate study with research project component, or higher preferred
- Registered to Practice with AOB
- Eligible for membership of Orthoptic Association of Australia
- Evidence of involvement in professional activities and/or of contributions to technical achievement.
- Experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement.
- Completion of Alfred Health LEX credentialing for one of the Advance Practice in Orthoptic streams.
Desirable
- A record of contribution to publications, conference papers and/or reports, or professional or technical contributions which provide evidence of research capacity.
- Experience in database development and data entry in a range of computer programs, including Excel and SPSS.
- Experience in the analysis and modelling of data, including the capacity to integrate data from a range of sources and of uneven quality
