Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

About us
Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner Southeastern area of Melbourne.
The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.
Workforce Development and Education
AMAH Workforce Development and Education is a dynamic team of interdisciplinary clinicians including lived experience Peers providing training and education to Nursing, Peer Workers and Allied Health staff working in all areas of psychiatry. We work closely with management and staff to support cultural change and personal development using a collaborative approach.
LIVED EXPERIENCE WORKFORCE
The Lived Experience Workforce within AMAH is a growing and thriving workforce of designated lived experience roles. These roles include but are not limited to: Directors of Lived/Living Experience, Managers of Carer/Consumer Lived Experience Workforce Development, Senior Consumer/Carer Peer Workers, Consumer Consultants, Carer Consultants, Discovery College Leads and Educators, Peer/Carer Peer Workers. We work across the Hospital and Emergency, Adult and Older Adult, headspace and Infant, Child & Youth, and Statewide Services including the Women’s Mental Health Service and the Residential Eating Disorders Service.
What you’ll be doing
Your work as the Administrator for the Early in Career Carer Peer Program will support the administration and coordination of the program including general program administration, meeting planning, scheduling placement days and program documentation. You will work directly with the Carer Lived Experience Education Team within AMAH and liaise with the carer peer workforce, administrators and program managers across the clinical services and external partners when required.
About you
- Lived experience of supporting someone experiencing mental health challenges
- Experience of working in a carer lived experience role within the public or private mental health system
- Excellent organisational, time management, communication and computer skills. Australian working rights
- Current Influenza vaccination and be willing to undergo a Background Check
