Multidisciplinary Allied Health Assistant Service The Alfred Care Group Multidisciplinary Allied Health Assistant (MDT AHA) service supports Allied Health Professionals (AHP) to deliver high-quality, safe and efficient care across The Alfred Hospital, Caulfield Hospital and Sandringham Hospital. Our MDT AHA’s across acute, subacute, outpatient and community-based settings, partner with allied health teams to improve patient outcomes and experience. The department comprises a large, diverse and growing workforce (approximately 30 EFT), including permanent and casual staff and maintains strong partnerships with education providers to support student placements and workforce development. Our MDT AHA support care delivery through AHP delegated clinical interventions, equipment provision, discharge facilitation and administrative support.
Position Summary
The Multidisciplinary Allied Health Assistants (AHA) Manager provides strategic, operational, and professional leadership of the multidisciplinary AHA workforce. The role is responsible for setting the strategic direction and Page 4 of 6 leading the continuous refinement of MDT AHA workforce models that enable allied health professionals to practise at top of scope . The role oversees the recruitment, onboarding, deployment, and ongoing management of the MDT AHA workforce to ensure sustainable workforce capability and alignment with clinical demand across all wards and programs. In addition the AHA Manager works in consultation with clinical services to define, implement, and review AHA scope of practice within service contexts where AHAs are operationally embedded.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential:
- Relevant degree in an allied health discipline.
- Post-graduate qualifications at Masters level or higher in a clinical area or health services management/administration/business management or relevant field
- Current non-limited AHPRA registration if applicable for professional group or eligible for membership with the appropriate professional association
- Current Working with Children’s Check
Desirable:
- Experience in service evaluation design, implementation and reporting
- Experience in, and knowledge of improvement science and innovation methodology
- Experience in the delivery and/or management of an AH service in a hospital environment
