The Department

Respiratory Medicine has a unique and comprehensive spectrum of expertise in Australia across clinical and basic allergy and advanced adult lung diseases, including severe asthma, emphysema, interstitial lung diseases, sleep apnoea, cystic fibrosis (CF; State Centre of Excellence) and lung transplantation. It comprises of four Clinical Services, supported by the Bronchoscopy Service and the Physiology Service (including the Lung Function Laboratory).

The Role

This Administrative role will focus on providing support to our Lung Transplant Service in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at The Alfred.  Duties include clinic support, including scheduling patient appointments, new referrals and clinic follow up. The position is seven days a fortnight. 

The job will include:

  • Greeting patients, handling referrals, answering phone calls, and booking patient appointments and completing clinic follow up. 
  • Supporting clinical staff with administrative tasks 

Qualifications/Experience Required


  • Sound administrative experience - Hospital environment preferred but not essential 
  • Personable, customer focused approach, and commitment to high quality service 
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency including MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel (foundational)
  • Understanding of confidentiality and privacy legislation
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Demonstrated ability to plan work flow, prioritise and delegate to meet deadlines.
