About us
Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.
The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.
LIVED EXPERIENCE WORKFORCE
The Lived Experience Workforce within AMAH is a growing and thriving workforce of designated lived experience roles. These roles include but are not limited to: Directors of Lived/Living Experience, Peer/Carer Program Coordinator, Senior Peer/Carer Support Workers, Consumer Consultants, Carer Consultants, Discovery College Leads and Educators, Peer/Carer Practice Leads and Peer/Carer Support Workers. We work across the Hospital and Emergency, Adult and Older Adult, headspace and Infant, Child & Youth, and Statewide Services including the Women’s Mental Health Service and the Residential Eating Disorders Service.
What you’ll be doing
The Team Leader – Lived Experience Peer Work position has been created to develop and lead the consumer and carer peer program within the AMAH State-wide Services Directorate, which includes the WREN Inpatient and HiTH programs, as well as the Ngamai Wilam Residential Eating Disorders service.
AMAH is an organisation expanding and evolving its lived/living experience peer workforce. This position has been created to support this workforce and will lead a team of Peer Workers (Consumer and Carer) within AMAH State-wide Services. This role is crucial in providing day-to-day operational support, coordinating rosters, and ensuring the well-being of both team members and service users. The Team Leader will be actively present and available within the WREN and Ngamai Wilam, fostering a supportive and responsive environment.
This position will play a key role in ensuring that the lived/living experience mental health peer workforce maintains a recovery-orientated focus and is supported:
- in meeting consumer and carer need across all program areas
- is integrated into service delivery systems including clinical systems and teams across the Alfred’s mental health services; and maintains clear scope of practice.
About you
- A lived experience of mental health challenges or has cared/supported someone who has accessed public or private mental health services.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a designated Lived Experience Work role
- LEW Level 5 - less than 2 years’ experience at senior level
- LEW Level 6 - more than 2 years’ experience at senior level
- Experience working collaboratively with individuals and groups to build and maintain effective relationships within multidisciplinary teams
- Formal qualifications are not mandatory for this role but may be helpful: Intentional Peer Support training, Peer Supervision Training and/or experience in leadership or management.
- Experience leading a team in a healthcare or community setting is desirable
- Australian working rights
- Current Influenza vaccination
- Current Victorian Driver's License and be willing to undergo a Background Check
