About us
headspace Southern Melbourne was established in 2007, and Alfred Health became the lead agency in 2011. The centre was relocated and became headspace Elsternwick in 2013. In the same year, headspace Elsternwick launched the beginnings of headspace Early Psychosis program and established services offered from the Bentleigh Centre. In 2020, Alfred Health won the tender to provide the headspace services to the Monash area and the headspace Syndal Centre was established.

About the role
The Access Clinician is a key position within the headspace Syndal Centre team and is committed to ensuring a high level of Clinical Governance within the Syndal Centre. The Access Clinician is responsible for working with the Clinical Lead to provide support and direction to the Centre team, ensuring that day-to-day clinical work is carried out to effectively meet the needs of young people by providing oversight to the coordination and delivery of clinical services.
The incumbent will contribute to the development of evidence-based and innovative clinical services and will promote the delivery of mental health services that are of the highest quality. The Access Clinician will provide clinical support and guidance to private mental health clinicians.
The incumbent will also be keenly engaged in clinical and caseload reviews and will actively work with the Clinical Lead to manage referrals and demand for clinical services. This will also include ensuring young people have access to psychiatric review and assessment with Psychiatrists and Registrars. Where required or during high demand the Access Clinician will carry a caseload.
About you
Essential:
- Degree in Social Work, OT, Psychology, or Mental Health Nursing.
- Registered or eligible for registration with AHPRA or AASW.
- Strong clinical skills and experience in mental health settings.
- Skilled in assessment, triage, risk management, and supervision.
- Leadership experience in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act (2022).
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualifications in youth mental health or leadership.
- Approved supervisor (AHPRA).
- Experience in family work, primary care, or non-profit settings.
- Understanding of the broader mental health and primary care systems, and youth-specific challenges.
