  • Fixed Term Position until 31st Jan 2025 (Parental Leave)
  • Part-time at 72 hours per fortnight
  • Grade 2 or Grade 3 Allied Health Assistant Classification (IN29-IN30)
  • Based at The Alfred Hospital

 

The Department

You will be a valued member of Alfred Health’s Dietetic and Nutrition Department which has a long history of providing nutrition care and a proud history of clinical and academic excellence.  The Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated service at The Alfred, Sandringham, and Caulfield Hospitals. This position is based at The Alfred Hospital. The joint Dietetics and Nutrition Department is comprised of 48 EFT and 65 people. It is organised into seven clinical streams and provides a 7-day service. Using evidence-based, patient-centered care, it provides clinical expertise to Alfred Health’s patients during their healthcare journey, including the prevention and treatment of malnutrition and the optimisation of nutritional wellbeing and recovery through tailored specialised nutrition therapy. 

 

The Position Description

The Home Enteral Nutrition (HEN) program at Alfred Health provides nutrition services and support to patients (and their families/carers) that require home enteral feeding. The HEN Nutrition Assistant (NA) is an integral part of this program, supporting the provision of timely, high-quality nutrition services. This role also includes the co-ordination of a range of administrative tasks to support all aspects of the HEN program and Dietetics and Nutrition Department in a timely and efficient manner.

 

Skills and Qualifications Required

You will be able to demonstrate the Alfred Health values and be passionate about the care of patients requiring home enteral nutrition.

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent qualification (including in Nutrition or Health Science)
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare setting and/or Nutrition and Dietetics Department is desirable
  • You will be organised, efficient and proficient in the use of MS Office applications

 

You will be provided with clinical supervision and opportunities to develop your clinical and leadership skills. You will be an integral member of the Dietetics and Nutrition Department, with opportunities to engage in relevant quality work and professional development.
