On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department
The Department of Cardiology (Heart Centre) provides a complete range of cardiology services covering General Cardiology, Heart Failure, Structural Heart and Arrhythmia specialities and undertakes clinical research activities in affiliation with Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. The Department of Cardiology is involved in a large number of international and local clinical trials from Phase 1 first in human to Phase 3 randomised controlled trials investigating newly developed drugs and devices for clinical use in cardiovascular medicine
The Role
This position involves all aspects of clinical research from the feasibility stage, startup including budget negotiations, in conjunction with HREC /RGO submissions, recruitment and patient management through all studies to study close out. The role will be supported by the Senior Clinical Research Manager and the Principal Investigators involved in the studies.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Diploma in Nursing or a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent certification)
- Certification in research Good Clinical Practice
- Research experience, including a demonstrated capacity to produce measurable research outcomes
- Experience in cardiac catheter laboratory is preferred but not essential
- Experience in project management is preferred but not essential
- Experience in industry and/or experience with professional societies would be an advantage.
- Experience in the preparation of Human Research Ethics Committee and Grant applications would be an advantage.
