The Department

The Information Development Division supports and maintains ICT across Alfred Health. Services include helpdesk, desktop support, telecommunications (phones, mobiles, pagers), nurse call, security systems, server and network support, application support for enterprise systems, business analysis, project management, IT training, visual communications. Over fifty technical staff support an environment comprising over 4000 network-connected desktop computers and over 200 servers. In addition, IT Services manages the wide area network and data centres for several other health services.

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this role is to provide management and support of the CERNER MILLENNIUM suite of applications used across Alfred Health.

This involves:

  • Liaising with the clinical technical team and other ITS teams for the development, testing and deployment of functions within CERNER MILLENNIUM or other clinical system.
  • Liaising with the training team and users for the implementation of functions.
  • Liaising with support team for the ongoing support of functions.

Qualification & Experience Required

Education & Certification

  • University degree (equivalent) or higher qualification and work experience with a minimum of 4-5 years (as a guide)
  •  The successful candidate should also possess knowledge of or be willing to learn how the applications they support interact with the business.
  • A background in Health care and it’s delivery would be an added advantage

Knowledge & Experience: 

  • A willingness to learn and understand relational database concepts and how these interact with the applications the candidate will support.
  • A willingness to learn the front end application configuration tools, across all Cerner applications.
  • Demonstrate a beginning understanding of software development methodologies.
  • An ability to learn about software version control concepts, change management concepts and software deployment tools.
  •  A willingness to learn about and use reporting tools.as they apply to the business
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and support unfamiliar environments, systems and applications.
  • Ability to follow through on issues to completion.
  • An ability to learn and develop skills in preparing and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team as well as a flexible approach to work.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
